5 Totally Do-Able New Years Resolutions

1) Cut Down on Non Recyclable Waste

Low Energy Light Bulbs - Probably the easiest change you could make. ‘Nuff said.
2) Set Up a Work Out Plan You KNOW You Can Stick To
We are ALL guilty of this one. The ‘ I’m going to work out 5 days a week for 2 hours and eat nothing but kale and Lemon water!’ But, ask yourselves this -’ Can you realistically do that?’ and no, I don’t mean ‘Physically’, though that’s a question you should ask, too. I mean time wise! We all have lives, family, friends, jobs… A work out plan can ONLY be effective when you can actually commit to it. One that will actually fit into your lifestyle! Try these tips & tricks to designing a better workout plan for 2019!
Assess you current physical health. Can you run a 5K? Are you flexible? How much can you lift PROPERLY?
What do you want to be able to do in 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and a year?
Get a personal trainer (check out our web app!) who can keep you in check and on track
Find a work out buddy who pushes you
Try HIIT training - 30 minute sessions each day
Put a reminder in your calendar
Start with working out 2 times a week, then skip every second day, and then aim for the 5 days a week goal. Baby steps, honey.
3) Go Somewhere New
“Once a year go some place you've never been before” - Dalai Lama
Let’s be real, none of us are smarter than him. So , let’s just take his word for it, ok? In all seriousness, there are a lot of studies that show that over 90% of the population feels high levels of success and life fulfillment when they travel to new places, even if it’s only an hour from home! It just has to be new. This year, we challenge you to travel somewhere you’ve never been, whether it’s across the sea or simply across town.

4 ) Learn a New Skill
Yea, we know it’s a cliche, but it’s a good one! Human beings are some of the most adaptable species on the planet. It’s one of the reasons there are some darn many of us! We learn at startling rates using all 5 senses, and if we are missing one of those sense the other 4 make up for it! That’s kind of insane the more you think about it! Humans have an extreme capacity for information and new skills, so if you’ve ever had an itch to learn something new but thought ‘Well, you can’t teach an old dogs new tricks, right?” WRONG! You’re essentially saying “I can’t learn anything and I am going to die only knowing the things I was able to learn in high school’ and when you put it like that, it’s just kind of sad, isn’t it?
Here are some fun skills to learn this year!
5) Start a ‘Rainy Day’ Savings Account
It’s never too late to set up a decent savings plan for that inevitable rainy day and if, for some strange reason, you don’t ever have a rainy day - you can save it for a Sunny Day…. In Mexico.
Start setting aside a certain amount of money into a TFSA, and if you don’t have one of those, you should really get one! Go over to your bank branch and within ten minute you’re good to go! You can pre-set it to automatically withdraw any amount of money, however many times a month you’d like. Most banking professionals recommends $100.00 off each paycheck if you’re not saving for something in particular, but know you need to be actively saving.
